Fender Custom Shop Telecaster 60s Closet Classic Faded Sonic Blue
So many things about this guitar scream: Custom Shop. It's based on 1960 telecaster but it takes off to many parallel dimensions at the same time. We have double binding, Closet Classic finish with nitro lacquer checking and worn rear of the neck. Aged, slightly discolorated sonic blue body. The body, by the way, is made of alder. It's not a guitar for traditionalists but for those who want something unorthodox, bold and special.
The coolest thing about it is how playfully it resonates and how comfortably it sits in your hand. Instantly, you forget that telecasters have non-contoured body. The neck has a nice, fuller oval C shape but not too chunky.
Last but not least - the pickups. For this one, Fender Custom Shop used custom wound Seymour Duncan combo of a P90 3B bridge pickup in the neck and a Billy Gibbons Esquire bridge pickup. They are world apart - the P90 is hot and fat, very tight and punchy. The bridge pickup bites with higher, texan style midrange. Both are bold, both are totally different but surprisingly - when combined together - cut through anything that stands in their way.
