James Tyler Studio Elite HD Japan Psychedelic Vomit
As with any James Tyler Guitars creation, it's not only about the amazing sounds and playability but also the looks. Of many epic finishes in their product range, Psychedelic Vomit stands out as one of the most iconic. Similar to another recognizable painting, Burning Water, it is often associated with Michael Landau - an incredibly unique and important session and fusion jazz player.
Studio Elite model is a classic workhorse - made in Japan with a unique specification. Starting with a body wood called Mamywo. It is an exotic wood with tonal characteristics similar to lightweight mahogany. Then we have a quartersawn neck with quality grain and a satin-smooth feel. The neck profile is defined as Extra Thin '59 but it's not small at all. It's more compact than the regular '59 found in James Tyler guitars but still a bit bigger than Fender's modern C profile. It will fit your hand - don't worry.
Although the fretboard may look similar to light rosewood, in fact, it is made of Pau Ferro, an exotic wood with tonal properties in between rosewood warmness and snap of the maple. Not as fast an attack as an ebony but definitely gives a bit of an edge to the intense midrange focus of Mamywo. To try to put the sound in words: it has a Stratocaster-like roundness and a punch but with much more "oomph" (bottom of the sound range, bass). The pickup combo of two JT5500 and a Super humbucker is balanced in every position.
The finish is rare and legendary Psychedelic Vomit. It's not often used in Japanese-made Tylers and more often it comes with a maple fretboard. Visually and technically the guitar is in perfect condition. Comes with all original case candy and a SKB-made made lightweight hardcase.
