Wer die kalte, raue Wildnis Alaskas besucht, gelangt mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit ans Ufer des Kenai, einem Fluss, der für seinen Lachsfang bekannt ist. Daher stammt auch der Name dieses Knaggs-Modells.
Die Kenai schließt die Lücke zwischen einer PRS McCarty und einer Gibson Les Paul. Mit der von PRS Private Stock-Modellen gewohnten Qualität verkörpert sie Boutique-Gitarrenbaukunst. Einteiliger Mahagonikorpus, geflammte Ahorndecke mit Spiegelmaserung, Nitrozelluloselackierung, handgewickelte Seymour Duncan Pickups, makelloses Finish – alles, was man von erstklassiger Gitarrenbaukunst erwartet.
Sie ist nicht nur makellos verarbeitet und sieht wunderschön aus, sondern – was noch wichtiger ist – sie spielt sich traumhaft. Der komfortable Hals im 59er-Stil ist vertraut und erinnert an einen schlankeren Les Paul-Hals. Die Gitarre schwingt voll, klar und definiert. Sie hat einen warmen, vollen Ton am Hals, einen knackigen „Quack“-Sound in der Mitte und einen druckvollen Rock-Sound am Steg. In jeder Position und Einstellung lässt sich der Klang dank der Dynamik präzise steuern.
Optisch befindet sich die Gitarre in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand, ohne Risse oder Beschädigungen.
